Day 105 – C’est la vie.

Today has been a very interesting day, full of activities, thoughts, discoveries & amusing dialogues. Never have I been as excited, enthralled, overjoyed, annoyed and hopeful for things to work out as I’ve planned… I’m a humble learner in this journey and as I move on, I realize, I have yet more to learn.

C’est la vie.

There are so things that I want to go through but don’t have time at the moment, so I’ll just note them down for now:

  1. Career- Which career do I really want to pursue?
  2. What about the wedding?
  3. Tracking 400days-project
  4. About relationships
  5. About hobbies & interests
  6. About financial independence
  7. Personal development – does it really matter?
  8. Decisions & commitment
  9. Life changing experience(s)
  10. Order…

So many things to go through… Can’t wait to get them all sorted out.

Have a good evening folks!

Structure – what’s that?

Goodness! Finally took time to update my blog and what was the first thing I noticed? Bet you readers were to nice to comment about it but the “categories” section look messed up. So a few (perhaps nearly hundreds) clicks here and there… Voila, it’s starting to look more decent. Still has a lot more to go but it’s an alright start for now I guess.

It’s nice to have order in things. However I have this issue that when I get caught up with something I’ll do anything, everything and nothing connected with it. Meaning, it becomes a chaotic pursuit of passion and love for sometime and then the emotions dwindle and I’ll be left behind with a bunch of thoughts, experiences, memories and reflections. How do I sort these kind of things?

Since 2006, I’ve been all over the place. Sporadic, really, as my boyfriend was so nice to re-frame it. While studying, I pursued a career within a student organization, worked part-time in several part time jobs, trotted the globe, met a lot of inspiring people, been in several events and fun projects. I’d definitely like to go through all these experiences and sort them out, reminisce, and reflect about what I learned through them. But that’ll have to wait til next time… The materials are still in the jumble and brainstorming phase but hopefully later on, I’ll figure some way how to sort them out. Get some structure and hopefully a nice layout too ;-)

Been reading other blogs for 2 nights in a row and found interesting people with interesting stories to share. It was a pleasant surprise that most of the people that I’ve visited, visited my site as well :-)

Sweet Sunday in September

Early morning bird rises up to a sunlit kitchen and works her way into a perfect routine.

A coffee in hand and a recipe in another. The apples are fresh from mother’s garden and have been washed & cut into pieces.

I simply love making this cake because it’s so simple. One – make the dough. Two – Put the dough into the baking tray. Three – Add the apple slices on top. Four – Insert cake in the oven. Five – Wait 15-20 mins. Cake done and ready to enjoy! Smells lovely too <3

doodles & rodeo

It’s been a long rainy, yet still productive day. Tried one new thing that I’ve never done before: rodeo. Ending the day with some doodling for fun and a short post here. Tomorrow’s gonna be better. I hope.

Cosy weekend & Sushi

It’s been 5 weeks since the semester start and this weekend is my first free weekend. To top this Saturday I’ve shopped some salmon and made some sushi, my favorite :) Time for some IDOL and good grub.

The feeling of after going to an audition…

… today was simply amazing!!! After a rather shaky start, I kinda got the hang of trying out for a band. The members were very nice and helpful. Also the feel of having to listen to the music live… *sigh* It’s just simply, simply, simply amazing. *sigh*

Got to perform 2 cover songs and tried 2 of the band’s songs as well. Their music is new to me but the songs were surprisingly comfortable to sing. It was a learning experience and I had a blast.

Found out that the world is really a small place. Well at least, Stavanger is. Bumped into a friend on my way home and then another couple of friends right before my doorsteps. Then again discovered that my friend was working with a former colleague. Either I have a people magnet today or I’m starting to know some people in Stavanger. hehe.

Today has been an amazing day.

Ps.

Thanks to the band for letting me in for an audition.

Back to the drawing board.

After 5 years of being out of practice, my sketches turned out to be… quite out of perspective, rusty and… not so bad. perhaps after some more practice I’ll be able to pick up where I left it last time.

Panda Catering – blooming start

I’ve never been good at being idle. Relaxing for a  couple of hours is all good and all, but when we’re talking about days, I’d go bananas if I have nothing to do. And were not talking about like as if any activity would do. I need to do something productive. Something that will show me some results that, “yes! I’ve done something now”. I like to keep myself busy, partly because I get easily bored and also because I like being in an activity.

So aside from studying and working part-time I thought that doing some light catering could be a good source of extra income. It’s fun, I get to hang out with my panda cooking partner, and most importantly I get to enjoy good food. After all I gotta taste my products before sending them away, right?

Yesterday I decided to take things more seriously and put everything that I’ve learned on how to manage a “business” in use. I worked mostly with the finances and recipes. Figuring out how much we need of something to get something made, and how long it would take seemed like a well thought idea, then & there. After the paperwork, I worked on booking orders, and boy was I for a surprise. Received 4 small orders and 1 big one. Things are turning out more interesting than my partner thought, or so he said. hehe.

It’s gonna be a busy week ahead and man…, do I look forward to it.

The 3 daily commandments

Yesterday after the Strategy class Idar Vollvik held a 45minute presentation about LUDO & his journey to building his several businesses. It was interesting indeed to hear such experiences from someone who has succeeded, failed and now on his way back up again. Getting to know briefly about his background, how he started his business, succeeded and failed were all key learning points. However what I noticed right away during the presentation was his presentation skills. He talked about his ups and downs in a most seemingly humorous way, and it was at some point quite amusing. After all, making fun of losing millions of krones, is no joke.

Off course, Mr. Vollvik also used the opportunity to present LUDO, a business group that has been established in cooperation w/ university students. Seeing as how students got access to such an opportunity, I asked myself how I missed noticing about it. A friend of mine is currently working on this project and at times I couldn’t help but envy her for the opportunity. Still what’s done is done.

At the end of the presentation there was some Q&A. The student crowd seemed hesitant to ask the guest lecturer in the beginning. However once the one brave soul dared to start asking a question, the others soon followed in a quite slow tempo, if I may say. Mr. Vollvik’s answers to the questions were somewhat expected and at times I felt like he always connected it to his current project. It was understandable. After all marketing your business is always a plus.

What I took from this session was his last “tip” on time management, focusing especially on how to prioritize daily activities. According to Mr. Idar Vollvik there are 3 commandments to sort out your daily activities:

  1. do the necessary
  2. do the possible
  3. do the impossible

After this pep talk, I walked out of the café quite inspired by it all. The day went on and I thought to myself that it’s worth a shot. Today I based my activities according to Mr. Vollvik’s 3 commandments. Things went well enough till I got distracted and bored by doing the “necessary & possible”. Though after some reminders & struggles I finished the 2 first commandments and got to the impossible chores. This is were my engines started firing up. I realized not long after that I really need to discipline myself when it comes to doing the basic and simple tasks. After all, the results of doing the commandment #1 & #2 comes earlier than the 3rd commandment, right?
